With more and more campuses becoming tour attractions, people have begun to wonder whether tours on campuses are merits or demerits. As is known to all, like everything else, tours on campuses have both favorable and unfavorable aspects. On the positive side, tours on the campuses may stimulate visitors’ curiosity. In addition, by touring on the campuses the tourists can learn more about science and technology. Moreover, tours on campuses bridge the so-called “gap” between universities and society.
Just as coins have two sides, however, the unfavorable aspects of touring on campuses cannot be ignored. To begin with, with so many tourists in and out of campuses without any limitation, the peace indispensable to normal teaching and learning is disturbed. To make matters worse, with so many people on the campuses, the security of the professors and students as well as the equipment and facilities are threatened. Finally, too many tourists on the campus may give rise to professors and students’ annoy, thus threatening the normal teaching and leaning process.
Considering the above analysis, we can safely concluded that while tours on campuses do some benefits, their threat to the development and improvement of education obviously outweighs the benefits. As far as I am concerned, tours on campuses should be forbidden. (211 words)
